Class length
75 minutes

Our own Genevieve Martin is running from Apollo Bay to the 12 Apostles on October 26 to raise funds for the Conservation Ecology Centre (CEC).   Based in the heart of the Otways, the CEC was established in 2000 to ensure that the landscapes of the Otways are healthy, resilient, and cared for into the future. The CEC is an innovative environmental leader and a registered charity with over 20 years of successful, well- planned and executed work and is trusted by government and the community to deliver results.

The Otways is a unique pocket of Australia that features a rich mix of rainforests, coastal landscapes, waterfalls, and diverse wildlife, It is a breath of fresh air which provides a window to nature that psychologists have agreed is essential for human mental wellbeing.

We are holding a special event on Friday 11 October to help Genevieve raise funds for the CEC.  100% of the ticket cost will go to the CEC.

This event is designed to promote deep rest and rejuvenation for our own bodies through:

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a gentle and relaxing form of yoga designed to promote deep physical and mental relaxation. It emphasises long-held, passive poses supported by props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks to allow the body to release tension gradually. The practice aims to calm the nervous system, restore balance, and encourage healing on both physical and emotional levels.

Trataka

Trataka is a meditation that involves focused, unbroken concentration on a candle flame, to enhance mental clarity and concentration. The word "trataka" comes from the Sanskrit word meaning "to look" or "to gaze." It is part of the shatkarmas, or six cleansing techniques in yoga designed to purify the mind and body.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, is a guided meditation practice that brings the body into a state of deep relaxation while maintaining full awareness. It is a form of conscious rest where the practitioner lies down with blankets, pillows and is led through a series of mental exercises designed to guide them toward a state of deep rest.
